In 2006, self-taught designers Andrew Loh and Kenny Lim started DEPRESSION as a means to face their own struggles, but more importantly to segue into their fascination for the complexities of human emotions. Minimalist, genderless and a little macabre, the DEPRESSION label takes inspiration from emotional fragilities and turns them into wearable art.
A classic shirt that's taken from DEPRESSION's archives, the BOX SHIRT is a staple in their collections, and this piece is a re-working of the circle box shirt from their latest VOL. 8 collection, titled "BLACK HOLE". This collection is a metaphor for finding infinite power even when you find yourself in a dark place. For Recustom, they added big distressed denim pockets and 'suspenders' for a more layered and contrasting look. That's a refreshing way to add your old jeans onto a new shirt.

Cut in a relaxed and slightly cropped fit, the Shoto Baseball Collar Top has a clean and minimalist appearance with a hidden button closure beneath the collar and buckled straps for waist adjustment. Kebaya by Ratianah was founded by Ms Ratianah Binte Mohd Tahir in 2016. Located in a quaint shop in Bussorah Street, she specialises in making traditional wear for the local community. She strives to uphold and inculcate a love for the kebaya and baju kurung in current and future generations.
The baju kurung, loosely translated to mean “concealing dress” in Malay, is a traditional Malay costume that consists of a knee-length blouse, worn over a long skirt (for women). For men, the costume consists of a shirt worn over a pair of pants (for men) and is interchangeably referred to as baju melayu. It is worn both for formal occasions such as weddings and as informal day-to-day attire. baju kurung worn on formal occasions are usually made from silk or brocade, while those worn on a daily basis is usually made from cotton or polyester. The cheongsam, an elegant, form-fitting dress, captivates with its timeless elegance. For generations, the cheongsam has been an emblem of power dressing and a statement of one’s cultural identity. Today, cheongsam are embraced by women of all ethnicities for different occasions, and are loved for their versatility. Worn more commonly during special occasions such as Lunar New Year or weddings, they have also taken on a looser, more contemporary silhouette for fun, everyday wear.
